Ho Ho Holidays are Here!
Pick up the November/December issue of Mansfield Magazine
Once again the holiday season is just around the corner. People seem to be a little kinder, smile a little more often and sometimes even take part in an act of kindness or two. Those are some of the reasons I love this time of year.
Of course, the holiday season is also when we put together our final magazine issue of the year. I hope you enjoy what we've rounded up this time.
What would a holiday-themed issue of Mansfield Magazine be without tips on seasonal decorating? Laurie Fox has done a great job this time in Homestyle showing how you can decorate for the holidays without consuming all your free time or breaking the bank. She presents some great ideas for repurposing old holiday decorating favorites in fresh and new ways. She also looks at themes, colors and textures that will help you bring in the holiday spirit in your home this year. We also show you how to create your own unique Christmas ornaments made with wooden blocks, Modge Podge, paint, beads, glitter and whatever other items inspire you.
Eating is an essential part of the holiday season. Whether it's Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other holiday celebration, Carol Ritchie has some great ideas for everything from candy and cookies to mouth-watering recipes for orange-honey glazed ham and a festive heirloom cheese ball.
The cornerstone of this issue is our discovery of the Hope Community Garden at Community of Hope United Methodist Church in Mansfield. The small garden is tended by church and community volunteers and provides all kinds of fresh fruits and produce for those in need.
It's a great story for a time of year when we all talk about giving. Here's a group of people who are practicing what they preach, sacrificing their own time and resources and giving to others.
What a great time of year!
