Happy New Year!
It’s a new year with new challenges and new beginnings. It’s fun to kick things off with our first issue of 2014. We hope you like what’s inside.
As we all begin a new year, there’s some great advice from Laurie Fox in this issue’s Homestyle. She spoke with some professional planners and organizers who offer all kinds of tips for mapping out our lives and making better use of the calendar. To top it off, our editor presents some helpful apps and products to assist you and your family.
This issue we had the wonderful opportunity to visit with Vern Raven. He’s the museum director over at the Historic Mansfield Society. Did I mention he’s 75 years old? He’s still going strong, loves history and after spending his career in the engineering field he began volunteering at the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center. One thing led to another and for the past five years he has been the museum director. If you don’t know much about the Historic Mansfield Society or the city’s history, this is a great place to visit.
You’ll find other interesting people in this issue. People like 18-year-old John Boyett. He learned how to work with tools, metal and wood from his father and grandfather and is now making works of art that he sells. He’s a great kid - very polite - and he’s also very talented.
In our Health & Wellness column, Dr. Suwebatu Odunsi-Shiyanbade, a local gastroenterologist, shares with us the condition of celiac disease and it’s symptoms, treatment and resources. We’ve even got a few tasty gluten-free recipes to share with you.
We think we have put together another interesting issue of Mansfield Magazine for you to enjoy. We hope you like it and let us hear what you think!
