Last year the Day of the Girl event was included in the regional conference and included attendees and the girls from Young Women’s Leadership Academy. It was not a fundraiser at the time but it went so well they decided to make it an annual event. There were about 300 participants last year.
"We hope to have 500 or more participants. Our financial goal is $50,000 including sponsorships, registrations, and donations. We want girls to know that there are women in our community that believe in them and support them in achieving their goals. We want to girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We want them to know that we are here to help them overcome obstacles. We want them to see women leaders and know that they can be leaders as well." - Amy Rasor, Director of Development
Groups of women from Corporate Affinity Groups, Networking Groups, Clubs, Professional Organizations, Churches, and other affiliations will join together in support of the Girls Inc. mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
There will be time for socializing and networking in addition to the program featuring prominent female leaders in our community. Participants are encouraged to form teams that will be eligible for additional benefits. All proceeds from the event will support the general fund of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. Register Now!
We were curious to know if men are allowed to participate, to which Amy said, "YES! We had men participate last year and they are welcome to do so this year as well. They register to participate just like anyone else. For example, my Dad participated last year. As the father of two daughters, he believes in the work that we do to empower girls."
