The 16th Annual Mansfield Cares Charity Ball was held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Walnut Creek Country Club. The organization's president Lisa Stewart (pictured above in the center) reported the event had a silent auction, live auction, dinner, drinks, dancing and other fun ways to donate to Mansfield Cares' cause.
"We did a split the pot (called Share the Love) and the winner of the split donated their part back to Mansfield Cares," she said.
This year’s ball brought something new and exciting … the grand opening of “Club MC XVI” providing a DJ and night club ambiance that lured attendees to the dance floor. Stewart said ball chairpersons Cindi Walker and Karen Tecklenburg, along with other volunteers, worked very hard to make the event a success.
"Remember, this is not just a 'great party' or reason to get together with friends," a pre-event welcome letter from Stewart said. "It’s the single most important night of the year … not only to me, but to the rest of our amazing Board of Directors. I couldn’t ask for better people to work with… or a better organization to be involved in!"
Mansfield Cares is sometimes referred to as the “safety net” for the community. The organization doesn't direct all of its resources to just one cause. Instead, it provides financial assistance to a number of organizations that benefit those who truly need help. Food vouchers, angel tree gifts, school supplies, even scholarship financing for MISD students are just a few examples of how expansive Mansfield Cares' reach has become.
"Combine those with our no-charge Caring Place Clinic and the establishment of Harvesting International Ministry’s new food bank, and it’s clear that Mansfield Cares has truly made an impact," Stewart said in the letter. "and demonstrates how you help us serve our community. I hope you know how much we appreciate your attendance… your generosity… and most of all, the fact that you care. We thank God for people in our community like you… who have the heart to give their time and money to bless those who so desperately need it."
