Around Arlington Meetup members enjoyed the City of Grand Prairie’s free outdoor concerts at The Summit. They were free and open to the public every Friday evening in April. We even enjoyed the last one, despite having to hide inside the bathrooms before the concert (which was moved indoors due to bad weather)!
In April we celebrated the group’s 8th birthday at our monthly Blue Mesa happy hour: patio windows were open, margaritas flowing, quesadillas cooking!
We took advantage of the bargain priced Movies With a Twist at Studio Movie Grill and enjoyed Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the big screen. I took my mom who couldn’t believe I’d never seen it before!
We had two fundraising events on the calendar in April! Sue invited members to participate in a fundraiser at Walnut Creek Country Club benefitting Arlington/Mansfield Pregnancy Center. The evening’s entertainment featured Christian Comedian Dorie McLemore. And Kim invited artsy folks to attend the Libations and Creations painting event at Red's Roadhouse - Kennedale, TX benefitting Covert Operations, a team of Around Arlington Members walking in the Susan G Komen 3-Day again this year.
The Kennedale Brickworks Festival was great fun and the weather was fabulous again. Lynda hosted a booth for Shelter2Rescue and met Meetup members when they stopped by. We ate the mandatory festival food on a stick, drank boutique root beer, listened to live music, watched kids on the inflatable Bull Ride, and cheered on the Pie Eating contestants.
Five dollar burger night at Bar Louie was delicious, and again, many members enjoyed the Spring happy hour out on the patio. Everybody loves happy hour, and it’s even better with burgers!
John hosted a dance night at Studio 80 in Fort Worth. Members busted out their best disco moves and had a great time dancing to music of the eighties.
Zanie hosted an Archery Adventure at Cinnamon Creek Archery in Roanoke. After archery lessons, they spent the afternoon practicing their skills on the outdoor course.
We wrapped up the month’s activities with a VIP invitation to the Grand Opening of Dave & Buster’s in Euless. It was an impressive event with an abundance of free food, drinks and games in their arcade. The friendly enthusiastic staff even formed a human tunnel as guests left, cheering everyone and wishing them a good night they wrapped up their event and the month of April. www.Meetup.com/AroundArlington
