Grand Prairie Animal Shelter Teams Up with Local Fire Department for 2017 Calendar

Jan 09, 2017 01:51PM, Published by Melanie Heisinger, Categories: Community

This year, to raise awareness to the increasing need to adopt from shelters, the Prairie Paws Adoption Center teamed up with Grand Prairie's local Fire Department to make one adorable calendar.

The
2017 Heroes & Paws for a Cause Calendar features the wonderful firefighters of the Grand Prairie Fire Department doting on the darling dogs (and one mischievous cat) of Prairie Paws Adoption Center

The photographer and Operations Supervisor who masterminded the whole thing was Tammy Roberts. Tammy was also the co-designer of the calendar, along with Angellee Vincent, who is their Offsite Coordinator and works with and creates their Firefighter Fridays every week. Angellee also coordinated all of the shoots and communications with the Firefighters.

We were able to get in touch with Tammy Roberts to learn a little bit more about the calendars and the impact they are hoping to make on the community.

Tell us a little bit about creating this calendar. How did the idea come about? Has it been done before?

Although we are a ‘smaller’ shelter without out a huge promotional team, we were trying to find ways to raise a little more adoption awareness as well as finding ways for us to fundraise for our medical fund. We decided on doing a calendar with our Fire Department because they have been so helpful in working with us all year with our Firefighter Friday Pets and are an amazing group of men and women representing our City.

How can someone get ahold of a calendar?

All calendars are available here at our shelter (2222 West Warrior Trail, Grand Prairie TX) or they can call us directly to find out where they can get one. 972.237.8568.

Are all of the animals featured available for adoption?

Thankfully ALL of the animals featured were adopted at the time of our Release Party (the final dog was actually adopted the morning of the calendar debut!)

How can someone get involved? Are there any upcoming events?

We have a link to our Offsite events here: http://www.gptx.org/city-government/city-departments/animal-services/waggin-wagon/-toggle-all

And we are always grateful for the word being spread that we accept donations for our medical fund, as well as other items, located here: http://www.gptx.org/city-government/city-departments/animal-services/get-involved-at-prairie-paws/wish-list

Congratulations to all of the animals that were adopted, and be sure to get your own calendar today!
