From Zumba to Zoology, Mansfield Parks & Recreation offers a wide variety of classes and events for any age and any interest. This summer, they’ve expanded their selections to give residents even more options.
For those that love the outdoors and consider themselves angler lovers, the Intro to Fishing class is a great option.
Junior Geologists is another new offering from Nature Education, designed to give a closer look at the ground beneath our feet. Divided into separate, age-appropriate sections, each program offers exploration hikes through Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park and in-depth analysis of the geology here in Mansfield.
On National Rat-Catcher Day (July 22, in case you haven’t marked your calendars already) check out a Texas Predators program that includes a hike and hands-on exploration of the predators big and small that live in and around Oliver Nature Park.
The park's naturalists will lead the Night Hike on Aug. 7, exploring the trails and hoping for glimpses of the very active nightlife that inhabits our parks. For the more creative night owls, Glow Rock Art class offers rock painting lessons with a twilight twist…glow in the dark paint to make your creations stand out long after the sun goes down!
As always, the ever-popular evening kayaking tours will take place both July 28 and Aug. 5 trips will happen at dusk.
Interested in composting? Take it to the next level with Squirmy, Wormy Composting on July 8 where participants will make their own worm composting box for home use.
