Building Squirrel Boxse
January 28. 10:00 a.m. Learn about our urban forester, the fox squirrel, and how to provide an alternative nest for the mother-to-be squirrel in your landscape other than in your attic! You will build your own squirrel nest box to take home with you during this workshop at River Legacy Living Science Center. Best suited for ages 10 and up. Forever Plaid
February 3 – February 5. Mainstage Classic Theatre presents this hilarious musical comedy in four-part harmony. Under the Sea Daddy – Daughter Dance
February 11. Early dance 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. or late dance 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The Arlington Convention Center will be transformed for dancing and enchanting. Individual tickets include a corsage, refreshments, dessert and punch, parting gift for daughters and commemorative photograph. Tickets are $20/person if purchased by January 19. Beginning January 20, tickets will be $30/person. Make your night even more exciting by taking your daughter on a stretch limousine ride. You’ll travel from Arlington Convention Center around the Arlington Ballpark, Texas Stadium and back to the convention center. Tickets are limited, so purchase now - $5. The Great Backyard Bird Count
February 18. With more than 225 species of birds, River Legacy Parks is a perfect place for families to take part in the national Great Backyard Bird Count, sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon. River Legacy Living Science Center will be hosting a family-friendly event that includes activities and guided bird walks. Black History Month Festival
February 25. 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Southeast Branch Library in Arlington. Celebrate African-American culture in a variety of ways with speakers and programs for adults throughout the day. Children can create African-themed crafts throughout the afternoon. The library will have an African-American history display for the entire month. For all ages. Kite Festival
March 10. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at River Legacy Parks, 701 NE Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington.
This popular spring event features kite building workshops, kite stunt demonstrations, kite contests, face painting, a bounce house, concessions and more! Admission to the festival is $5 per participant and free for observers. The kite contests are open to all ages and begin at 12:30pm. Contest categories include Best in Show, Most Unusual Kite and Highest Flying Kite. Ribbons will be given for First, Second and Third place. Learn & Grow Fair
March 3. 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Southwest Branch Library in Arlington. Get ready for spring at the Learn and Grow Fair. Learn about water conservation, rainwater harvesting, composting, gardening and more. Master Gardeners will teach vegetable gardening, landscape design, use of native plants and composting. Kids will enjoy crafts and interactive educational exhibits. Tents and Tales
March 23 – March 24. Join us for a night under the stars as we camp out at River Legacy Parks. Pack up your tents and sleeping bags and set out for a night in the wilderness right here in the city! The campout includes dinner, movie under the stars, sleeping bag story time, s’mores and a good old fashion campfire sing-a-long! Fee is $10/person. Children 2 years old and under are free.
