CBS Local reported that Redaway, LLC is petitioning to open a 15,000 square foot medical waste processing facility in Mansfield. The facility would be off Sentry and South 2nd Ave.

Per the application, "The proposed facility, Redaway Medical Waste Treatment Facility will be located at 208 Sentry Drive, Mansfield, Texas 76063 on the corner of Sentry Drive and South Second Street on the southwest side of Mansfield... requesting authorization to store, transfer, and treat municipal solid waste which includes medical waste and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals."

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) hosted a public meeting on Thursday August 21st to share information related to the application and collect comments from the community. A representative of TCEQ commented that:

"The meeting marked the end of the public comment period. Public comments were received at the meeting. A formal response to comments will be sent to all of those on the mailing list (those filing comments and any others) within 45 days. All of the comments received during the comment period will be used by the executive director as part of his determination on whether or not to approve the applicant’s registration.

After a decision is made, anyone wishing to file a motion to overturn may do so. If the commissioners decide to take up such a motion, it will go before the full commission. If not, the executive director’s decision will stand."
