Fort Worth, Texas August , 2014 — Girls Inc. of Tarrant County
purchased a van through a generous grant from Lockheed Martin AERO Club in the amount of $20,000. The van will be used for transporting girls on recreational and educational field trips, college campus visits, and community service projects.
“Girls Inc.’s desire to provide life-changing programs to young women in our community appealed to our employee-led LM AERO Club,” said Susan Wright, LM AERO Club’s administrator. “Our gift will support the mission to expose the participants to opportunities beyond their own backyard and help inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold.”
The additional funds needed to purchase the van were raised in one weekend via a crowdfunding effort launched by the agency. “We needed to make a bold move to raise $6,000 quickly so that we could finalize the purchase with the dealer. We decided to share our fundraising goal and have the community help us reach it. We kept everyone informed of our progress throughout the weekend via social media and announced that we had reached our goal on the following Monday morning. It was exciting to see the support and community interest build over the course of a few days and to share the accomplishment with our community” says Amy Rasor, Director of Development
Once the van was purchased the agency set out to have it wrapped at the lowest cost and highest quality possible. Zilla Wraps answered the call to sponsor the project. Angela Morrison, Co-Owner and Manager of Zilla Wraps stated “Zilla Wraps is proud to support Girls Inc Tarrant County and their efforts to educate and inspire girls! To show our support, we’ve donated $3000.00 toward Girls Inc. Tarrant County’s new van wrap. We are sure their beautiful new wrap will help raise awareness of Girls Inc. Tarrant County and their innovative programs!”
“Girls inc. is thrilled to have the ability to transport girls on special field trips, thanks to the support of Lockheed Martin AERO Club, Zilla Wraps, and many others in our community. The van will allow us to enhance our programming by providing the opportunity for real-life, hands-on experiences for the girls.” Barbara M. Williams, Board Chair of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County and partner at Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP
