5 Mansfield ISD Veteran's Day Observances

Louise Cabaniss Elementary will have a Veteran’s Day Celebration the evening of Tuesday, November 18th, following their PTA meeting. The Cowboy Chorus, Cabaniss Elementary’s choir, will perform a brief selection of patriotic songs to honor and thank our Veterans. A few Third Grade students will read their essays inspired by this holiday. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. The campus invites parents and Community Members, to take a stroll through the main hallway to view the display of Cabaniss Elementary staff’s loved ones that have served in the military.
Rendon’s program will be Thursday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Graders will each sing a different patriotic song, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will post colors and they will have a Guest Veteran Speaker, who after serving active duty is currently in the reserves. The whole school is working on a Wall of Honor in which students are bringing pictures of family members who have served in the Military.

All three schools will host a concert honoring Veterans at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11th, in the Claude Cunningham Performance Hall at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts - Mansfield, TX. The MHS Color Guard will open the Choir Concert at the Center. All JROTC members of the Choir will perform the concert in uniform as well. MHS JROTC is participating in the Fort Worth Veterans’ Council Veterans’ Day Parade. The MHS Color Guard is supporting J.L. Boren Elementary School’s Veterans’ Day Assembly at 1:30. p.m.
During the week of November 3-7th, the student council will highlight each branch of the Military by providing important information to students about that branch of service.
Timberview's AFJROTC marches in the Dallas Veterans Day Parade each year. They matched in the Fort Worth parade for their first 5 years, and they’ve marched in the Dallas parade the past 5 years. The Dallas Veteran’s Day Parade theme this year is, “Honoring Our Wounded Veterans.” The Parade is in downtown Dallas and starts at Union Station and ends shortly after reaching the City Hall where the cities VIPs will be viewing. The parade starts with a massing of the Colors in front of City Hall at 11:00 a.m., and ends around 12:30 p.m. The Timberview AFJROTC have been supporting the Fort Worth or Dallas Veterans Day parade for the past 9 years, (Ft Worth parade from 2005-2009 and the Dallas parade from 2010 -2014, since the school opened in 2004. The AFJROTC will post the school flags as a unit before leaving and if time permits, the cadets will take them down as a unit. The Timberview Drill Team, the Celebrities, will be performing at Thelma Jones Elementary School’s Veterans Day program on November 11th.
