Mansfield Police Investigating an Inmate Death

The Mansfield Police Department is currently investigating the death of a 45-year old white male. The deceased, a Fort Worth Police Department inmate was being held at the Mansfield Jail facility.

On April 5, 2015 at approximately 7:03pm the inmate, a Fort Worth Police Department arrestee, was processed into the Fort Worth Jail facility on drug related charges. At approximately 9:35pm the inmate was transferred to the Mansfield Jail facility. Upon arrival at the Mansfield Jail the inmate was processed and placed in a holding cell populated with other inmates. A short time later the inmate was discovered unresponsive. Jail personnel took immediate life saving measures. Mansfield Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, relocated the inmate from the cell to the back of the Mobile Intensive Care Unit and continued with life saving measures. At approximately 12:45am on April 6, 2015 the inmate was pronounced deceased.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner responded to the scene, took custody of the deceased and will be tasked with determining a cause of death.
