Apr 17, 2015 01:20PM ● Published by Kevin

On Thursday, April 16, Mansfield ISD announced it received notice that School Board Trustee Danny Baas, Place 6, will be resigning from the Board effective immediately.

Until a decision is made, the Trustees will operate as a six-member Board, according to communication from the district in an email that night.

Baas, a police officer, was elected to the board for his second term on May 10, 2014, defeating Kory Watkins, winning with 69.2% of the vote. He has served the board since 2011. His term was scheduled to end in 2017, but according to the Mansfield News-Mirror, Baas, 43, resigned for "personal reasons."

Baas is also the previous director of the Mansfield Police Officers Association, which is no longer an active organization according to the Secretary of State.
