Lake Ridge, Mansfield High Receive 12 Prestigious Awards Nominations

Lake Ridge and Mansfield high schools' theater programs have a lot to celebrate, as they have received 12 nominations for a prestigious Metroplex awards show. The Dallas Summer Musicals award show takes place Wednesday, April 29, at 7 p.m., at Music Hall at Fair Park, 909 1st Ave, Dallas.

Out of 65 high school musicals from all over the state of Texas, two MISD productions were nominated for several awards by the Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) organization," a recent article by Mansfield ISD said.

Lake Ridge received nominations for 
Best Featured Performer - Michael Flake as Lord Farquaad, Best Crew & Technical Execution, Best Supporting Actor - Isaiah McInnis as Donkey, in its 2015 performance of Shrek the Musical.

Mansfield High School received nine nominations for its 2015 performance of Beauty and the Beast, including:
  • Best Featured Performer - Justin Alozie as Cogsworth
  • Best Lighting Design
  • Best All-Student Orchestra
  • Best Choreography
  • Best Direction
  • Best Supporting Actor - Zach Montou as Lumiere
  • Best Supporting Actress - Anna Pritchett as Mrs. Potts
  • Best Leading Actress - Shelby Priddy as Belle
  • Best Musical
"The purpose of the DSM High School Musical Theatre Awards program is to highlight the excellent work of students and teachers in high school musicals while generating an event that builds community," the article concluded.
