Noah Syndergaard will start in a Major League Baseball game for the first time in his career tonight for the New York Mets, taking the mound against Jake Arrieta (3-3, 3.41 ERA) of the Chicago Cubs. Syndergaard, 22, is from Mansfield and pitched at Legacy High School.

The 6'6", 240-pound righty starts for Dillon Gee, who was placed on the disabled list with a groin injury. Syndergaard was 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA in five starts for Las Vegas, a Triple A squad, before being called up to the majors.

"So humbled, honored and excited to be with #Mets. Now it's time to go to work!" Syndergaard tweeted yesterday.

We here back home in Mansfield wish Noah the best of luck tonight and in his career.
