Top Running Back, Mansfield High Athlete Juggles Multiple Offers

Mansfield High School junior running back Kennedy Brooks' talent is no secret. As a matter of fact, he's ranked 24th overall at his position in the nation, according to 247 Sports. In case you were wondering, Brooks has already garnered a bit of attention from colleges desiring his services in two years.

His most recent offer came with a scholarship offer from Texas Tech at the end of August. Below is all you need to know about Brooks:

  • Michigan
  • Southern Methodist University
  • Texas Tech
  • Washington

The Basics

The junior is 5'11", 190 pounds and runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. He's ranked 340th in the nation as an overall football recruit. His team is 5-2 overall in 2015 under head coach Jeff Hulme. The Tigers are undefeated in the district at 3-0.


Brooks has had an impressive 2015 campaign thus far, most recently capturing Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week honors for his performance against DeSoto. He carried 30 times for 282 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-21 win, which just so happened to be on his birthday.

So far this season, Brooks is leading the 6A schools in rushing with 1,417 yards and 14 touchdowns, according to

In 2014, he was named the District 8-6A Offensive Sophomore MVP. He finished the season with 169 rushing attempts for 1,271-yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, plus 5 receptions over 115-yards and 1 receiving touchdown.

Mansfield is on a bye this week. Up next, they'll face off against South Grand Prairie on Oct. 23.

So what's left for Brooks? A lot, as he has a season and a half to complete. He looks forward to more attention from potential suitors as the weeks go by.
