Gallagher Named Winner in Runoff Election for MISD Board

Dec 10, 2015 06:30AM ● By Kevin
The winner in Place 6 in the special runoff election for the vacant seat on the Board of Trustees at Mansfield ISD was announced this week. Daniel Gallagher won 67.66 percent of the votes against Dora Tovar. Gallagher will officially take the Place 6 seat on board on Tuesday, Dec. 15 when the votes are canvassed.

The position was vacant for eight months after the departure of
Danny Baas, who resigned from the board in April. The 47-year-old director of elementary services for the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw school district will serve 18 months, as the term expires May 2017.

"I want to thank everyone who supported me and voted for me in this election," Gallagher posted to his campaign's
Facebook page. "I am looking forward to working with Dr. Vaszauskas and each board member. MISD is a great district with a tradition of excellence and a future which is focused on ensuring an outstanding education for each student. I am honored to work for each student, parent, teacher, and employee of MISD.

"I also want to wish Mansfield High School and Lake Ridge High School good luck in this weekend's playoff games!"
