Boss (Beagle Mix, Young, Male, Small) [pictured above] - Hello, I came into the shelter as a stray little doggie. I walk on the leash, I try my best to keep a clean kennel, I am social and handsome so I guess that still means I am looking for a new home. I sure hope you come and find me right away. I would love to be your new best friend.

Rookie (Labrador Retriever Mix, Senior, Female, Medium) - Hi, I was owner surrendered due to a divorce and neither party could keep me. I am a great gal, ever so pretty and ever so sweet. Maybe you can give me that forever and ever home? I sure am hoping so. I could use a break. Hope to meet you soon.

Visit Mansfield Animal Care & Control to meet and/or adopt these dogs.

Nickie (Quarterhorse, Adult, Female, Large) - Nicky is a sweet horse and ready for adoption.

If you sponsor this horse or another one you will get the pleasure of owning a virtual horse while it is going through the process of rehabilitation and training. The average, spent on each rescue horse is around $1,500 and $2,500 a year. If you choose to be a sponsor this horse program helps prepare a horse for its final adoption, which usually happens four months to a year after we first bring it through our gates at the rescue and helps us support the horses throughout our organization. Please think about being a sponsor to this horse or another horse. Go to

Each month, we pick our favorite pet photo/story as sent in by our readers as our Pet of the Month. Send us yours to be considered for the next installment.
