The Counseling Department at Tarleton Midlothian Seeks to Prepare Professional Counselors

Tarleton State University offers a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. The M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree includes academic coursework that satisfies the academic course requirements for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in Texas. Students with a teaching certificate and two years teaching experience are able to exercise an option to take coursework to be eligible to take the TExES school counseling certification test.
The Counseling Department seeks to prepare professional counselors who have developed sound counseling skills through a diversity of experiential learning; acquired a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base; and developed a strong professional counselor identity. The intent is for graduates to be moral and ethical thinkers, scholars, and leaders who demonstrate civility and integrity, while contributing meaningfully and responsibly to the counseling profession.
Highly skilled faculty, who are also practicing LPCs, help mold you into best practice counselors who are highly sought in the professional counseling field. The Counseling program faculty truly care for students while maintaining high standards. Classes are offered in the evenings, on weekends, or online to meet the busy demands of a career and family.
