Nov 15, 2016 04:01PM ● By Melanie Heisinger
This holiday season, the Art Ballet Academy is presenting their production of The Nutcracker. The classic ballet sets the tone for the holiday season, and the Art Ballet Academy is happy to be putting it on this year.

Academy owner and director Mariya Kudyakova took some time to answer a few of our questions about the upcoming performance.

Tell us a little bit about the upcoming production The Nutcracker. What can someone expect?
The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition for families around the world. Attendees can expect Tchaikovsky's glorious score, dazzling costumes, a giant growing Christmas tree, falling snow and The Nutcracker. They will be taken on a trip to the land of the Sugarplum fairy with waltzing flowers and enchanted toys. This is a can't miss production!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your role there?

I am owner of Art Ballet Academy. I teach and oversee all aspects of the Academy program, from teaching classes, to choreographing and setting performances. I received a Masters Degree in dance at the Peter Tchaikovsky Perm State Ballet Academy and toured extensively throughout the world and danced many principal and solo roles, as well as in ballets that were created especially for me.

I have been a principal ballerina with Metropolitan Classical Ballet for 8 years. For 17 years, as an educator, I had the opportunity to teach thousands of students in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.
