On a 37-acre oasis just outside Fort Worth, TX, Freewill Farm is a full service training center with not only national level competing, but also lesson programs for all levels. The farm boasts a creek, white pasture fencing and a paved walking trail complete the picturesque landscape.

Throughout the summer months, Freewill Farm offers a summer camp; promising a fun-filled week of horseback riding where riders will learn basic horsemanship skills and watch demonstrations by top equine professionals.

We wanted to learn a little bit more about this fun summer camp and got in touch with the owner and head trainer, Wendy Potts, to get some answers.

Tell us a little bit about Freewill Farm. When and how did it get started?

I've been training horses and riders since 1987 & riding horses my entire life. I moved to Burleson, TX from CA in 1999 to train horses with my former husband.

I started Freewill Farm in 2013 when I opened up my own training facility in Mansfield. I'm fortunate to be working out of singer Kelly Clarkson's old ranch.

It looks like the horse camp will be a great time! What can someone expect if they sign up?

They can expect to learn a lot about horses! They will have the opportunity to feed them, groom them, learn to saddle them up, and most importantly, ride them! Their days will also be filled with other activities like arts and crafts, and swimming to cool off.

What is the age group for the camp?

Our camps are for ages 6 & up.

What's been one of your most memorable moments while hosting these camps?

Watching the relationships grow between the campers and their horses

Is there anything else we should know about the camp?

I'm really excited to get kids involved with horses! Horses can teach people so many important life skills. I feel like the lessons I've learned in the barn have helped me in so many aspects of my life and I can't wait to open other's eyes to the wonderful world of horses.
