Mansfield's Lake Ridge High School Dynasty Step Team Celebrates Winning Season, Ready to Compete Nationally

Nov 16, 2017 08:56PM ● Published by Melanie Heisinger

The Lake Ridge High School Dynasty Step Team has won first place in every local competition they've participated in. As a result, they are ready to take their talents to the next level and compete with teams outside of the local area.

Ultimately, their goal is to make it to the national competition in Daytona, Florida in March 2018. However, they are still working to raise the funds to make it there. They are excited about their winning season and are looking forward to community support as they continue to thrive.

Sedric L. Wade, the Head Coach of the LRHS Step Teams, took some time to answer a few questions about the highly successful team for us.

Q: What have all the team’s accomplishments been?

A: Dynasty has accomplished the following:

H.Y.P.E.(Carrollton Step Competition) - 1st place Female division, 1st place Overall Best Dressed, Texas Dance and Step Association Grand Prize
MA’AT(Desoto HS Step Competition) - 1st Female Division
Southside Show Down (Dallas Step Competition) - 1st Place
State Champion Championship (Duncanville Step Competition) - 1st place TDSA League
Stage Breakers Division Nationals (Garland Step Competition) - 1st Place Female HS Division

We have recently been requested to perform live on NBC5 where Dynasty showcased their purpose and how they strive to compete in NSA Nationals held in Daytona, FL.

Q: What are some notable reasons for winning these awards & going undefeated this season?

A: Dynasty has rightfully won several trophies and a grand prize check in the amount of $1,000 due to long hours of strategic rehearsal. Our step coach, Kerry Wright, has created each step theme that the girls have  implemented while maintaining class, comedy, and a Dynasty to be reckoned with.

The Ladies of Dynasty carry themselves with dignity & respect. Our talk is not cheap, we uphold an image well-known throughout the DFW metroplex to conquer each competition as of season 2016-17.

Q: Are there other LRHS step teams? If so, how did their season go?

A: LRHS has a male step team by the name of Distinguished Gentlemen. They began late in the step season only competing in two competitions.

Q: What was the most memorable moment of the season?

A: The most memorable experience was tossing chairs off side stage at the first competition of the season to accommodate for space that the girls needed to step. It was seen as a hindrance to the team at first, for they thought no one would have enough room to step. Dynasty Alumni and managers came together to decipher a quick way to clear stage room. The Ladies of Dynasty successfully performed and came from Carrollton, TX with Grand Champion Title.

Q: What can we expect from Dynasty in the future?

A: The Dynasty step team seeks to broaden their horizons by competing in locations other than Texas. Publicizing Dynasty’s values and goals aid in our exposure. With our class, determination, and skill, great things are in the future of the team.

Q: Anything else we should know about the team?

A: The Dynasty Step Team has 42 members and is the largest girls step team that we are aware of.
