During Mansfield ISD’s annual academic awards banquet, Monday, April 30,The United Family, parent company to Texas-based grocery retailer Market Street, presented the MISD Education Foundation with a $10,000 gift in honor of Mansfield High School head football Coach Daniel Maberry, who is currently fighting inoperable cancer.

The donation will be used to fund the district’s high school food service and culinary arts programs.

“When we enter a new market, our first priority is letting those who live, work and raise families there know we are committed to jumping into that community and helping where it matters to them,” said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family. “If Mansfield rallies around Coach Maberry and the strong education program here, then we will too. This is only the beginning of our support of the stellar education in Mansfield.”

Monday evening’s ceremony honored seniors in the district with the highest grade point averages. The formal event highlighted each scholar, but also spotlighted the teacher the student felt had the most impact in his/her life. The mission of the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation is to foster creative approaches to generate and distribute resources to the educators and students of Mansfield ISD to enrich and to meet the district’s stated mission of ensuring educational and personal success.
