Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission is Blooming with Environmentally-Friendly Community Activities

 Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission and the Environmental Service Department plant the seeds to make Mansfield a proactive, fun community that blooms as it grows!

Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission (KMB) is an active group, that together with Mansfield’s Environmental Services Department, is the force behind a city that has become recognized as a proactive community within their environment.

Adopt-a-Street signs have popped up along Mansfield streets recognizing locals who proudly volunteer several times a year to pick up trash along their designated road sections. Adopt-a-Street is an ongoing effort by KMB and the city involving citizens be diligent and proud of their community.

KMB also teams up with the Environmental Services Department with HOA’s annual Mansfield Neighborhood Night Out to educate on events and free services available. Last year 659 families were reached about the Chunk Your Junk/Shred Days, Curbside Cleanups, Hazardous Household Waste drop-off monthly events, rain barrel construction, annual art rain barrel auction and free paint for DIY projects at the ReUse store. They also learn about the myriad of free, online services such as the Water Smart Portal for tracking water use, weekly watering advice customized for individual addresses, a search tool telling if an item can be recycled, website about the Mansfield’s mosquito program and hints for elimination of mosquitoes. These families learned about the City of Mansfield website to sign up for the electronic newsletter, Code Red notifications as well as current news and events on the City Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor.

In addition to the aforementioned activities, KMB and the city annually hold the Earth Day Mansfield Festival the last Saturday of April. Growing by leaps and bounds, this year’s April 27, 2019 third festival at the Chris W. Burkett center and grounds will feature environmentally educational exhibits, children’s fishing tournament, food, music, smart cars, tiny houses, children’s area with petting zoo and rides, rain barrel auction and the Mansfield Farmer’s Market!

Always growing, Keep Mansfield Beautiful Commission and Mansfield’s Environmental Services Department continue to offer new activities and events that keep Mansfield beautiful, clean and environmentally blooming!
