Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Earns Level III NICU Designation

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center has earned designation as a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Designation highlights Methodist Mansfield’s ability to care for critically ill babies. The designation is a result of legislation passed in 2013 requiring Texas to implement neonatal levels of care designations with the intent of ensuring that NICUs have the resources and expertise to provide high quality patient care of babies with a variety of congenital, respiratory and infectious disease conditions.
“Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is proud of our NICU team for achieving this important designation,” said Methodist Mansfield Medical Center President Juan Fresquez Jr. “The Level III NICU designation means our hospital provides our communities with expert care for newborns who need highly specialized treatment, including comprehensive care for critically ill babies, and those with low birth weights or born as early as 23 weeks.”
Methodist Mansfield’s Level III NICU team includes board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and specialty trained NICU registered nurses.
Texas law prohibits hospitals from practicing medicine. The physicians on the Methodist Health System medical staff are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of Methodist Health System.
