Barks and Rec 5k

Each year the Mansfield Animal Shelter takes in over 2000+ animals. Of these, only 600 get fur-ever homes. Here at the Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department we want to do something to help, so we created The Barks & Rec Running Club, a program designed to get people out of the house and more active in their community parks. Our running club comes with a furry twist, participants get to run with Mansfield Animal Shelter dogs! Over the course of six weeks, participants will train with shelter dogs at the Katherine Rose Memorial Park. To celebrate the completion of the program, the City of Mansfield is hosting its first ever Barks & Rec 5-K-9, a 5k fun run for pets and owners on March 24, 2018. The Barks & Rec 5k is open to all individuals who would like to run, with or without a furry-friend. Dogs from the Mansfield Animal Shelter will also be made available for those who would like to be teamed up with a running partner. Pre-registration is required. A portion of all registrant fees will be donated to the Mansfield Animal Shelter. Following the 5k fun run is Mansfield's first Barks in the Park doggy day out. This fee includes: entry into the 5k + a swag bag of goodies + a donation to the Mansfield Animal Shelter!
