John E. Dosher Band
Live at the Historic Farr Best Theater
Johnny was born in Monroe, Louisiana but moved shortly afterward to Shreveport which is where he grew up and originally began performing music. His first band, The Squires, started in Junior High and became popular for parties and events on the local high school scene. At age 15, Johnny went to New Orleans and began playing at a club called "The Gunga Den" on Bourbon Street. That was quite an experience for a fifteen year old kid! At age 18, he was back in Shreveport playing in various bands on the old infamous Bossier Strip and doing short tours with a band known as “The Family Tree.” Over the next few years, he played in a variety of venues from Country to Jazz to Rock 'n Roll and with a big variety of musicians. During this time is when recording also became a big part of his life doing extensive studio work at Sound City Studios in Shreveport. He played on many recordings as a session musician and with his own bands. He also continued his musical studies with Eddy Kozak and began teaching at Kozak Studios. This part of his life led him into the role of Timpanist with The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra and led him into getting a degree in Composition/Percussion/Piano at Centenary College. These studies also led him into his involvement with church music which continues on as a composer/choir director/performer. After college, Johnny settled in Arlington, Texas where he formed the band “Winterflight” and toured Texas extensively. Johnny continues to compose, record and perform in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as well as teach and lead a rocking church choir.
